About

Ibanez is a Japanese musical instrument manufacturer best known for their guitars, but their Tube Screamer — introduced in 1979 — is one of the most celebrated and widely cloned overdrive pedals in history, used by Stevie Ray Vaughan and countless others.

History

Ibanez entered the effects market in the late 1970s. The TS808 Tube Screamer was released in 1979 and became a defining sound of blues and rock. Stevie Ray Vaughan's use of the Tube Screamer into a cranked Dumble amp created one of the most recognizable guitar tones ever recorded.
